Production blog: Finding Music

Our group decided that we wanted to use royalty free music. This was because it's a lot easier and there is no need for back up plans. If we had to get permission to use a song we liked then there's a chance that we would never hear back from the company that owns the rights to it. If that were to happen then we would have to come up with a back up plan which can be upsetting when you have your heart set on something. With royalty free music we can use any song we want. There are thousands of possible song choices even with the limitation of only using songs that are open for public use. We want an eerie song that is also kind of futuristic. This will be for the actual alien abduction scene. For the scenes where the friends are just relaxing then we will need some calming music to put the audience at ease. For this part of the movie we don't want anything that could give away what might happen later on. We want it to be a complete surprise when Taylor gets abducted. For the calm part there is a song on YouTube called "Dawn" by Seppheiros. In the beginning of the song there are soft piano notes which I think could be perfect for the mood. The part after the beginning adds in drums and snare which is a little too up beat for my liking. I'm going to take a sample from the beginning and loop it so the calm part lasts long enough for the scene to finish. For the eerie music I haven't found anything that's creepy and futuristic but I will keep looking.

Final task video

I'm relieved to finally be done with the video and kind of nervous about what grade I'll get.
