Title Research: Terminator Salvation

 The titles that are displayed are producers, the production company, the title of the film, the sound and video company, and the director. The title also mentioned the names of people under the title of “common” but I'm not entirely sure what that is. After researching what it meant I couldn’t find anything about it on the internet. The title also showed the names of the main characters and a few of the side characters The title sequence showed a lot of close-up images of technology which has a connection to the robots throughout the film. The camera was also very dim during these images. This could have been done to avoid showing too much and giving away the events in the movie. My other theory is that it was done to force the watcher to focus on a specific part of the image in order to give a slight hint or create suspense as Terminator contains slight horror aspects. It was also very creative because the camera slowly showed small parts of the movie name. Then it eventually zoomed out to show the whole title which finally revealed the name of the movie. The title had a very intense feeling and reminded me of dystopian futures. This is probably what they were going for because terminator is about taking technology too far. The font really contributed to the feeling as well because it has a fading look like it is really old or damaged. It also flickers and has its own movement. The font kind of materializes out of thin air and then disappears again. All the Images in the title are animated but in a way that makes them look very real. It's so real that it looks almost like a camera recorded it. The music is very overwhelming. It almost makes the watcher uneasy and sets the very energetic tone of the movie. Overall, the opening sequence of this movie was very helpful to my group. We were able to pinpoint what we liked and disliked about this opening sequence. As well as what we would like to use in our own title sequence.
